My plan was to use this race at The Brownlee Centre as training instead of doing efforts during the day. I rode over to the event as a warm up with no initial expectations with this being my first visit to the track. Upon arrival I knew the downhill finish would suit me if it was a bunch sprint or select group so knew I had to mark everything to be in contention.

The race started with the usual small flurry of attacks you get at any criterium and eventually 3 riders had rolled off of the front with a small advantage. Knowing this was a dangerous move I punched across to these 3 making sure no one came with me or could. The 4 of us then worked well together, holding a large gap throughout.
The last couple of laps we started playing cat and mouse and a few small attacks went but nothing stuck and it was clear it was going to be a sprint between the 4 of us. Making sure I was positioned well out the last corner and coming into the sprint I’d kept enough back following attacks to get the win.
